The project “Monsoons – New Christians, Jews and other individuals prosecuted for Judaism in the Goa Inquisition (1561–1812)” has a new logo! Inspired by the compass rose designs of old Portuguese cartography, the logo evokes the diaspora of the New Christians across different parts of the world and, in particular, toward routes east of the Iberian Peninsula, their place of origin. The stylistic variation on the right side of the logo evokes the Asian and East African worlds, territories once framed by the Estado da Índia and woven together by the rhythm of the monsoons, where New Christians settled and operated between the 16th and 18th centuries.
