CESAB is proud to partner with CIDEHUS (University of Évora) and CEHR (Portuguese Catholic University) in organizing the International Seminar History of the Inquisitions, an initiative of the International Group for the History of the Inquisitions. Following a first meeting held in Santiago de Chile in 2019, dedicated to the theme “Holy Office and Colonial Worlds,” the organizers of this new edition aim to mark the 490th anniversary of the establishment of the Inquisition in Portugal by proposing reflections on issues related to “Foundations, Adaptations, and Rootedness (15th–19th centuries).” Professors, researchers, and master’s and doctoral students are invited to submit paper proposals. The event will take place at the Centro de Arte e Cultura da Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, in Évora, Portugal, from October 21 to 23, 2026, and will be held exclusively in person.
