Celebrating 30 Years of CESAB

This week marks the beginning of the Commemorative Cycle celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Alberto Benveniste Chair of Sephardic Studies. Founded in 1996, CESAB has consistently maintained a dynamic level of activity, particularly in organizing scientific meetings and publishing its work.

During this week’s sessions, CESAB researchers will give public presentations of their ongoing projects. There will also be a Hebrew calligraphy workshop, as well as the launch of the most recent publication in our Usque Collection.

The publication is titled Some Comments on the “Description of Spices” by Garcia de Orta, by Carolus Clusius, a volume edited by Rui Manuel Loureiro, with translation of the Latin text by António Guimarães Pinto.
