Microhistory of the Christian-Jewish Encounters in the early modern Polish \u2013 Lithuanian Commonwealth&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>17 Mar\u00e7o, 16h30 | FLUL, sala B112.B (edif\u00edcio da Biblioteca)<br \/>\nThe Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth hosted the most significant Jewish community in the early modern world. Jews lived mainly in towns; they constituted a significant part of the country\u2019s urban population. In those towns, Jews and Christians encountered each other on a daily basis. In a microhistorical case study of the town Sluck, those encounters will be analyzed. Questions about patterns of cooperation and conflicts will be asked during the lecture.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Cie&#347;la, Phd specialized in the early modern Jewish history of the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth; she is especially interested in the Christian-Jewish encounters and the economic and social history of the Jews.
