Resumo do Projecto \/ Project Summary
\nEste Projecto traduz-se na organiza\u00e7\u00e3o de uma pesquisa cient\u00edfica tendo em vista a recolha e sistematiza\u00e7\u00e3o de materiais bio-bibliogr\u00e1ficos relativos aos mais destacados elementos das comunidades italianas estantes em Portugal ao longo dos s\u00e9culos XIV a XVIII. Como principal produto final deste projecto ser\u00e1 editado um Dicion\u00e1rio que corresponder\u00e1 a uma forma de apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o \u00faltima dos resultados obtidos ao longo da investiga\u00e7\u00e3o.
\nAtrav\u00e9s da consulta bibliogr\u00e1fica e de fontes (in\u00e9ditas ou publicadas) existentes nos arquivos italianos e portugueses, esta investiga\u00e7\u00e3o pretende tratar de forma sistem\u00e1tica as informa\u00e7\u00f5es relativas aos percursos biogr\u00e1ficos dos italianos que desenvolveram as suas actividades no Reino de Portugal, ou que circularam nas grandes rotas internacionais por onde flu\u00edam os interesses e as mercadorias portuguesas.
\nApesar da consider\u00e1vel bibliografia publicada em Portugal, e tamb\u00e9m em It\u00e1lia, sobre as comunidades italianas residentes em territ\u00f3rio portugu\u00eas, muita da qual \u00e9 constitu\u00edda por estudos de car\u00e1cter biogr\u00e1fico sobre alguns italianos que se destacaram pelos seus conhecimentos em v\u00e1rios dom\u00ednios do saber (n\u00e1utica, cartografia, com\u00e9rcio, arte, entre outros), falta fazer ainda investiga\u00e7\u00e3o nova, nomeadamente em arquivos, bem como \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio sistematizar de forma cred\u00edvel a informa\u00e7\u00e3o j\u00e1 dispon\u00edvel.<\/p>\n
This Project involves the organization of academic research aimed at collecting and systematizing the bio-bibliographic materials relative to the most prominent elements of the Italian communities living in Portugal from the fourteenth to the eighteenth centuries. The chief end product of this research will be the publication of a dictionary that will present the final form of the results obtained during its course.
\nThrough the consultation of bibliographic and other (published and unpublished) sources existing in the Italian and Portuguese archives, this research project aims to systematize the information relative to the biographic itineraries of the Italians who carried out their activities in the Portuguese Kingdom, or who circulated on the great international routes on which Portuguese interests and goods also flowed.
\nDespite the considerable collection of works published in Portugal, and also in Italy, on the Italian communities residing in Portuguese territory, much of which is composed of biographical character studies of a few Italians prominent for their knowledge in various fields of inquiry (nautical, cartographic, commercial, and artistic, among others), new research remains to be done, especially in the archives, as well as the task of giving credible systematic form to the information already available.<\/p>\n

\nO objectivo fundamental deste projecto reside numa arqueologia das fun\u00e7\u00f5es das comunidades italianas residentes ou visitantes em Portugal. Com este processo de reencontro com estes indiv\u00edduos o projecto ir\u00e1 ao encontro da dimens\u00e3o cosmopolita que o interc\u00e2mbio de elites possibilitou no quadro do Renascimento e das institui\u00e7\u00f5es, formas de estar e de sentir dos homens da Idade Moderna.
\nDesta forma, este projecto ir\u00e1 ao encontro dos resultados de uma abertura cultural e de uma relativa coopera\u00e7\u00e3o a n\u00edvel dos saberes que foram essenciais, quer para a pujan\u00e7a cultural e econ\u00f3mica das cidades italianas da \u00e9poca em quest\u00e3o, quer do Portugal Moderno.
\nCom este projecto pretende-se ainda, pela sistematiza\u00e7\u00e3o e pela longa enumera\u00e7\u00e3o dos casos, superar uma vis\u00e3o historiogr\u00e1fica muito centrada em epifen\u00f3menos que t\u00eam dominado a historiografia.<\/p>\n
The fundamental objective of this project resides in uncovering the functions of communities of Italian residents in, or visitors to, Portugal. Through a rediscovery of these individuals, the project will seek to reveal the cosmopolitan dimension that the exchanges between elites made possible within the framework of the Renaissance and its institutions, ways of living and feeling characteristic of the men of the Modern Age.
\nThis project will thus seek to establish the existence of a cultural opening and of a relative degree of cooperation on the level of knowledge essential both to the cultural and economic boom of the Italian cities of the time in question and to the emergence of modern Portugal.
\nThrough an effort to systematize and provide detailed accounts of particular cases, this project will also seek to overcome a historiographic view strongly centered on epiphenomena that have dominated the field of historiography.<\/p>\n
